My tattoo design is greatly inspired by myself and different things that I love. The skull girl originally came from the Day Of The Dead which is a Mexican tradition to honour passed loved ones. I feel this kind of meaning is greatly used whether fully celebrated or not as most/all people including myself like to honour and remember passed loved ones. The lion hood has great significance to me as it is not only my favourite animal, but a real significance to the mannerisms I strive to see myself portray, including; braveness, strength and looking after my family. The roses also mean something to me as they are my favourite flower.
I feel that this design could look good on multiple places on the body, one being the back. Having this particular design on the back would fill it nicely and allow the full design to be showed off well. Personally, I would shrink the design down to my thigh size and have a full thigh piece as I feel this is more feminine.
This particular tattoo design would need lots of line work for the main shape of the design however a lot would be shading. I feel the shading on the features of the face and around the roses and lions head allows depth in the piece. however the line work, especially in the lion mane and women's hair, brings in all that extra detail to the main shape. The tattoo would be in all black and white with the grey shading as this is the style of tattoo I prefer.
I feel this tattoo would have a large target audience as it has many different aspects. The skull girl would open a target audience of people who love the Day Of The Dead or skull's in general, whereas the lion hood would speak to the animal lovers. I think this design, if it was on the thigh, would cost around £250 to £300 because of the amount of detail in the line work and shading. I feel most tattoo shops would book this design in for a full day and then see if it can be finished or whether another session would need booking.
